One dead after Thanksgiving hit-and-run in Rochester

A man died early Thanksgiving morning following a hit-and-run crash on Gregory Street in Rochester.

Rochester police responded around 3 a.m. to a report of a man lying in the roadway in the 200 block of Gregory Street. Police said the man was struck by a vehicle, which fled the scene and has not yet been located.

The victim was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to Rochester Police Capt. Ryan Tauriello.

Gregory Street, between South Avenue and Ashland Street, was temporarily closed to traffic during the investigation.

Anyone with information is being asked to call 911.
